1. HSL is the first yard in the country to obtain ISO 9001-2000 accreditation. In addition, HSL is the First PSU Shipyard in India confirming to ISO 9001:2015 QMS Std. Eventually, HSL was certified for ISO 14001: 2015 EMS Std. and ISO 45001: 2018 OHSMS Std. in the year 2020 from M/s IRQS for undertaking “Design and Construction of all categories of Defence Ships/ Crafts/ Boats, Commercial Vessels up to 80,000 DWT and Repairs of all categories of Ships/ Crafts/ Boats/ Rigs/ Submarines and Allied services”. Further, HSL has strengthened by integrating all the three standards as Integrated Management System (IMS) i.e., Quality Management System (QMS Std.), Environment Management System (EMS Std.) and Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS Std.).

The yard has developed comprehensive Quality Management System, which ensured successful completion of NR of INS Sindhuvir way ahead of the scheduled date of delivery, also confirming to stringent quality norms stipulated in Russian repair documents in the year 2020. Further, HSL is progressing ahead to achieve another milestone of accomplishing NR of INS Sindhukirti, with Integrated Management System.
3. The yard is well known for its tradition of Quality first. Its outstanding performance in various projects, enabled the company to receive the certificate of accreditation from Lloyds Register of Shipping/ Indian register of Shipping of quality assurance in Shipbuilding and Ship repairs, apart from a recognition by the department of science and technology, Govt. of India for industrial Radiography. With the implementation of IMS in the year 2020, Safety and Environment are also integrated with our yard business, thus leading to an Integrated Management System. This accreditation signifies the high standards in Quality, Environment and Safety Management provided for products and services by the yard. In addition, the yard focuses on safety and environment achieved, which is an outcome of HSL commitment to implement rigorous quality control measures with continual improvement drawn on scientific and systematic norms.
4. For the effectiveness of IMS, HSL is committed to ensure resources needed for IMS are available, communicate importance of confirming to Integrated Management System requirements, ensure that IMS achieves its intended results, engage and support persons to contribute to the effectiveness of IMS, promote improvement and use process approach and risk based thinking.
